HAIM: Right Now
I’m just loving the track “Right Now” by Haim.
The music, lyrics, wild drumming and rasping guitar are all simply brilliant but it’s the ambient sound through maxed out microphones that really make it a standout piece for me.
It’s a catchy song and a casual, intimate video with what looks to be one long single take. I’ve watched it again and again as I just love the song but each time I forget to look out for the cuts. I end up closing my eyes to absorb myself in the raw sound.
The subtle noises of the sisters stepping around their instruments, picking up drum sticks or putting down guitars almost seem like production mistakes. But that’s the beauty of the casual and understated tone of the video.
