Croydon photo library

I love old photos of Croydon. I keep copies of the best ones I find.

Years ago I started tagging images with keywords so that I could search them easily, remove duplicates and keep only the best quality ones. It's a labour of love and has become a bit of an obsession.

To rein myself in, I try to be discerning and save only good quality images and only for those parts of Croydon I know personally. That said, in 20+ years of collecting, I now have over 20,000 pics and about 5,000 keywords to describe them.

Here's a video that shows the library in action, browsing images by their keywords.

I instantly recognise many of the pics that show up online these days but not all. My library lets me quickly search on keywords to see if a seemingly new pic is something I have already. If not and it's of sufficient quality, it gets added in.

Does anyone else maintain an image library of Croydon or other towns or subjects? If so, are you as nerdy as me in cataloging them so that you can browse and search easily?

PLEASE NOTE ALL PHOTOS STORED ARE FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY. THE LIBRARY IS NOT MADE AVAILABLE ONLINE NOR SHARED IN ANY WAY.
